On June 2, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw
was conducted through the Express Entry (EE) system.
π Key highlights of this
draw:
β’ β
Cut-off score: 726 points
β’ β
Number of ITAs issued: 277
This was the first EE draw in 20 days, and it
targeted PNP candidates. As of today, there have been 9 PNP-specific draws this
year, and yesterdayβs draw had the lowest number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs)
issued among them.
This was also the first draw held since the
appointment of the new Immigration Minister. However, it's too early to draw
conclusions about the ministerβs direction based on this single case. While we
are curious about the new direction of the restructured Liberal government and
its newly appointed immigration minister, it is expected that the policies
announced earlier this year will remain in place. Therefore, it would be
wise to take a conservative approach toward permanent residence, work permits,
and study permits throughout this year and into the next. This period
should be seen as a time to solidify one's foundation and carefully observe
immigration trends to discern future directions.
Although PNP draws generally have fewer invitations
than other categories, the exceptionally low number of invitations in this draw
should be interpreted not as a cause for concern but rather as a potentially
positive sign.
The government has already announced its
immigration targets for the year. Based on these targets, it is expected that
more than 7,000 ITAs should be issued monthly. However, only 2,511 ITAs were
issued in May, and just 1,246 in April. With only 277 issued in the first draw
of June, we can expect a much more active selection process in the second
half of the year, likely focusing more on category-based draws than on PNP
alone.
In these challenging times, rather than relying on
vague hopes, we assess the situation through analysis. Those aiming for
category-based selection are encouraged to proceed more proactively.
