Express Entry Update: CEC only draw

Following yesterday’s draw, the second EE (Express Entry) draw of 2025 has been held today, this time targeting CEC (Canadian Experience Class) candidates.

Here are the details from today’s draw:

Cut-off Score: 542

Number of ITAs issued: 1,350

The cut-off score is notably high. Let’s take another look at last year’s trends for comparison:

- In 2024, there were a total of 10 CEC-specific draws.

- The average cut-off score was 524, with the lowest at 507 and the highest at 547.

- The number of ITAs issued averaged 2,650, with a maximum of 6,300 and a minimum of 400.

Considering these figures and the fact that this draw occurred approximately three weeks after the previous one, today’s cut-off score of 542 with 1,350 ITAs issued doesn’t seem overly unusual.

If ITAs continue to be issued at a consistent pace, such as every two weeks with over 2,500 ITAs per draw, as was common in previous years, we may see the cut-off score drop back to the low 500s.

Additionally, if the announced removal of LMIA-based job offer bonus points is implemented, this could further lower the cut-off scores.

It’s just the beginning of the year. While it remains to be seen how diverse and dynamic this year’s EE draws will be, we remain hopeful. Canada’s immigration authorities have emphasized their commitment to giving priority to individuals already residing within the country.

Without a doubt, obtaining Canadian permanent residency has become more challenging over the years. However, for those whose ultimate goal is Canadian permanent residency, persistence will eventually create an opportunity to achieve that goal.

GS will continue to provide guidance grounded in reality and facts. Rather than adopting a negative stance, we aim to offer thoughtful analyses and insights to help those aspiring to obtain Canadian permanent residency progress toward their goals within their desired timelines. Stay positive and determined!
