Express Entry Update: PNP only draw

 

The first EE (Express Entry) draw of the new year 2025 has taken place! 

 

Here are the key details from today’s draw: 

✅ Cut-off Score: 793 

✅ Number of ITAs issued: 471 

 

The last EE draw of 2024 was held on December 16, meaning 22 days have passed since then. 

Looking at last year’s data, there were a total of 14 PNP-specific draws, with an average cut-off score of 725 and an average of 1,106 ITAs issued. Compared to that, today’s draw issued less than half the average number of ITAs, leading to a much higher cut-off score. 

 

Interestingly, the layout and information on the immigration website where EE draws are announced have slightly changed. It will be important to keep a close eye on how EE draws unfold this year. 

 

Last year, EE draws primarily focused on CEC, PNP, and candidates with French-language proficiency. Similarly, today’s first draw of the year followed the trend by targeting PNP candidates. 

 

Additionally, at the end of last year, the Immigration Levels Plan 2025 was announced, outlining three key categories for EE this year: healthcare, trades, and French-language proficiency. However, as of today, the category-based information on the immigration website remains unchanged from last year. We will need to monitor closely to see when and how these updates will be reflected. 

 

Most notably, Canada expressed its intention to prioritize candidates already residing within the country for immigration opportunities this year. Observing how this approach is implemented in practice will be critical. 

 

Although the number of ITAs issued is relatively low and the cut-off score is high, it is still encouraging to see EE draws resuming as we begin the new year. Let’s hope that 2025 brings even more opportunities compared to last year!
