🎉 Another GS Client Becomes a Canadian Permanent Resident!

In times like these, when immigration is becoming more difficult, hearing good news like this is truly uplifting.

A GS client has received their final letter.
Our heartfelt congratulations!
🎉

This was a spousal sponsorship immigration case.

Details are as follows:

This case was submitted from within Canada.

Process Timeline

  • PR application submitted: August 2, 2024
  • First-stage approval (sponsor eligibility approved): September 9, 2024 (5.5 weeks later)
  • PR portal letter received: August 22, 2025 (total of 13 months after submission)

It is true that compared to last year, spousal sponsorship applications are taking longer to process. However, in these times when immigrating on your own is especially difficult, being able to apply through spousal sponsorship can be considered a real blessing.

It should be noted that this case has not yet reached the stage of final PR approval. From this point, it may take as little as 3–5 days, or typically around 6–8 weeks, to receive the eCOPR, which represents the official permanent residency.

That said, receiving the PR Portal letter means there will be no further substantive review. While the wait may feel long, at this stage permanent residency is essentially assured—just a matter of time.

When it comes to immigration, the earlier you start, the better. Yesterday was easier than today, and today will be easier than tomorrow. If you are planning for Canadian immigration, the best decision is to act now before more time passes.

At GS Consulting, we continue to do our very best every day to provide structured, professional, and comprehensive immigration solutions. ☎️

📢 Express Entry Draw Held on Aug 19

On August 18, an EE PNP-specific draw took place, followed the very next day by a category-based draw. This time, it was for the Healthcare and Social Services category.

📌 Key details of this draw:

August 19 (Healthcare and Social Services category)

Cut-off score: 470

Number of ITAs issued: 2,500

Interestingly, in the previous draw for this category on July 22, 4,000 ITAs were issued with a cut-off score of 475. In contrast, this time, even though only 2,500 ITAs were issued, the cut-off score dropped to 470.

This indicates that the pool of candidates in this category has decreased.

This category includes occupations such as Dental Hygienist, Health Care Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Assistant, Social and Community Service Worker, and Social Worker. If you are working in one of these positions, we encourage you to take this opportunity and apply with confidence.

As mentioned previously, we cautiously anticipate that more category-based draws will be conducted throughout this year. Therefore, even if you are preparing under other categories, we strongly recommend that, if you meet the eligibility requirements, you register and apply this year.

In challenging times like these, choosing the right immigration consulting firm and developing your immigration strategy together is an important investment. We encourage you to choose a consulting firm that is more detailed, more analytical, and more dedicated.

GS Consulting will continue to provide accurate updates on Express Entry and Canadian immigration.

📢 Express Entry Draw Held on Aug 18

On August 18, a new Express Entry PNP draw was held.

📌 Key details of this draw:
August 18 (PNP-specific)
Cut-off score: 800
Number of ITAs issued: 192

This was the second-lowest number of ITAs issued in a PNP-specific draw this year. The lowest was on June 10, when only 125 ITAs were issued (Cut-off: 784).

As I have mentioned before, typically in the second half of the year—especially between July and September—a large number of ITAs are issued. However, compared to earlier this year (February and March), we have not seen as many issued in 2025.

We can consider two possible reasons:

First, apart from the French Language Proficiency category, other targeted draws have not been conducted as much as expected. For example, the Education category has only had one draw with 1,000 ITAs issued. Meanwhile, categories such as STEM, Trades, and Agriculture have not had any draws so far this year. This suggests that IRCC may be preparing for large-scale, category-based draws focused on these areas.

Second, considering the immigration intake targets up to 2027, the government may be proceeding cautiously. This year’s smaller draws could be a way to save room for more stable and larger draws in 2026 and 2027.

Between these two possibilities, the first seems more likely.

Taking both into account:

  • For those targeting category-based draws, I recommend being proactive and applying more aggressively through Express Entry.
  • Keep in mind that even if the activity is limited this year, there could be much more active draws next year. Rather than feeling rushed, it may be wise to continue your efforts with a steady and patient mindset.

During challenging times like these, choosing the right immigration consulting firm and developing your immigration strategy together is an important investment. I encourage you to select a consulting firm that is more detailed, more analytical, and more dedicated.

GS Consulting will continue to provide you with accurate updates on Express Entry and Canadian immigration.

📢 Express Entry Draw Held on Aug 7

Following the first Express Entry (EE) draw for PNP candidates on August 6, a draw targeting CEC (Canadian Experience Class) candidates was held on August 7.

📌 Key Details of the Latest Draw:

August 7 – CEC Category
Cut-off score: 534
Number of ITAs issued: 1,000

This draw issued the second-lowest number of ITAs for the CEC category this year. The lowest was on May 13, when only 500 ITAs were issued (Cut-off: 547). After that, 3,000 ITAs were consistently issued in subsequent CEC draws, which had led to a decrease in the cut-off scores. However, this time, with only 1,000 ITAs issued, the score jumped back up significantly.

Typically, “analysis” should involve reviewing past and current data to tell future trends. Unfortunately, with IRCC’s current draw patterns, making any kind of forecast has become nearly impossible. There seems to be no clear criteria or rationale guiding the selections, which is disappointing.

Although we continue to share EE draw results, we’re often left simply reporting past data without being able to offer meaningful insight into what’s next.

So far in 2025, there have been 8 CEC draws, with a total of 19,850 ITAs issued. The lowest cut-off score was 518 (on July 8), and the highest was 547 (on May 13).

Looking at CEC draws by month, June had the highest number of ITAs issued at 6,000, while May had the lowest at 500. As we’ve previously noted, IRCC tends to ramp up EE selections in the latter half of the year, particularly in July and August. Given this trend, the low number of CEC invitations in this draw could indicate a strategic shift toward category-based selections.

However, it’s also worth noting that the monthly average for CEC-specific invitations has been around 2,500 ITAs, so that pattern may still hold some weight. It’s frustrating not to be able to make accurate forecasts and to only speculate across a range of possibilities.

During uncertain and challenging times like this, choosing the right immigration firm and working with them to build a strategic immigration plan is a wise investment. We encourage you to choose a firm that is not only detail-oriented and analytical but also sincerely committed to your success.

GS Consulting will continue to provide accurate updates and guidance on Express Entry and Canadian immigration.
