After
approximately five months of waiting, we’re pleased to share that an LMIA
application has been successfully approved. Although this was a High-Wage
Stream application, which typically sees faster processing, it took longer
than expected given recent trends.
✅ Submitted: March 5, 2025
✅ Approved: July 28, 2025 (Approx. 5 months)
✅ Position: Nail Salon Manager – NOC 60040
✅ Location: A small town in Alberta
This LMIA fell
under the High-Wage Stream, as the job offer included an hourly wage of $40,
meeting the threshold for high wage in Alberta. As a result, a 3-year work
permit can now be applied for based on this approval.
Navigating an Increasingly Strict LMIA
Process
LMIA
assessments are becoming increasingly strict. That’s why it’s essential to
prepare comprehensively throughout the application process.
This includes:
- Strategic job advertisement
planning
- Choosing the right media and
content for job ads
- Preparing a strong LMIA
application
- Anticipating and preparing for
potential officer interviews
Most
importantly, the candidate’s work experience and education must align
with the position being offered.
In this case,
GS Consulting meticulously reviewed all aspects of the application. We worked
closely with the employer—sometimes a bit persistently—to ensure that every
supporting document was in place. This thorough preparation gave us the
confidence to proceed, even with today’s higher government scrutiny.
The tougher
the immigration climate, the more critical it becomes to work with an
experienced and strategic immigration firm.
At GS
Consulting, we are always committed to providing you with more systematic
and professional total solutions.
