Following the announcement by Immigration,
Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that the RCIP (Rural Community
Immigration Pilot) and FCIP (Francophone Community Immigration
Pilot)βextensions of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilotβ have launched earlier
this year, a total of 18 communities (14 for RCIP and 6 for FCIP, with 2
participating in both) have been designated.
As of April 22, while most of the designated
communities are still in the preparation phase, four communities have
officially opened their programs: three under RCIP and one under FCIP. Among
them, RCIP communities Sault Ste. Marie (ON) and Brandon (MB) have already
received their federal nomination allocations:
- Sault Ste. Marie: 300 cases
- Brandon: 180 cases
We hope that the remaining communities will
open their programs soon, offering much-needed opportunities during a
challenging year for permanent residence applications.
The four communities that have opened so far
are:
RCIP
- Timmins (ON)
- Sault Ste. Marie (ON)
- Brandon (MB)
FCIP
- Timmins (ON)
The RCIP is a federal immigration pilot
program designed to help address chronic labor shortages in rural areas outside
of Quebec.
To qualify, applicants must secure a job
offer from an employer in a participating community and meet eligibility
criteria related to:
- Work experience
- Education
- Language proficiency
- Proof of settlement funds
- Intent to reside in the community
Applications are submitted directly to the
federal government, and intake will close once the annual quota is filled.
Therefore, early application is strongly encouraged.
We will be providing a detailed guide on the
RCIP and FCIP soon!
