πŸ“Œ May 1, 2024 – MPNP Draw Update & Manitoba Immigration Trends

On May 1, 2024, Manitoba held another round of invitations under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). However, the overall number of invitations this year remains significantly lower compared to 2023. This reduction reflects a broader trend across Canada, as most provinces are scaling back their PNP activities due to reduced federal nomination allocations.

So far in 2024, Manitoba has conducted 9 draws. The number of Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) issued is as follows:

βœ… January: 325 LAAs

βœ… February: 117 LAAs

βœ… March: 219 LAAs

βœ… April: Only 31 LAAs

Notably, all four draws held since March 21 have targeted overseas candidates exclusively. This is in contrast to the federal government's stated priority of offering more opportunities to temporary residents already inside Canada.

πŸ“ Details of the May 1 Draw

Total LAAs issued: 26

All issued to overseas applicants

Candidates were invited through Manitoba’s Strategic Recruitment Initiative

Minimum score: 727

No invitations were issued to candidates residing within Canada

There are many temporary residents in Manitoba currently waiting for PNP opportunities. Yet with federal policy changes making it more difficult to obtain LMIAs and study permits, many are choosing to leave Canada. It is becoming increasingly unclear how the Manitoba government plans to support permanent residency pathways for those already in the province.

🌍 Meanwhile, Manitoba has been selected for four community-based immigration programs under federal initiatives:

3 RCIP (Rural Community Immigration Pilot) communities

1 FCIP (Francophone Community Immigration Pilot) community

Among these, only the Brandon community has published full program details so far. The other designated communities are still in the preparatory phase.

If you’re aiming for permanent residency in Manitoba, we recommend closely monitoring the progress of these RCIP and FCIP programs as part of your long-term immigration strategy.
