The provincial immigration programs of each
province in Canada have been allocated only 50% compared to last year. As a
result, the PNP progress in each province is either halted or proceeding slowly
at this time.
MPNP processed 9,540 cases in 2024, but only 4,750
cases have been allocated in 2025.
On the 20th, MPNP conducted four draws this year,
but the number of LAAs (Letters of Advice to Apply) issued so far is almost the
same as the number issued in January last year, which is about 50% of last
year's level.
Considering this, the selection criteria have
become very detailed compared to the past.
There are two streams selected this time.
First, the International Education Stream. 19
people received invitations, and the conditions are very strict.
Both of the following requirements must be met:
- Must have graduated from a post-secondary institution with a
master's degree or higher in Manitoba.
- Must have a close relative who is a permanent resident or citizen
of Manitoba, has lived in Manitoba for more than a year, and currently
resides there.
Both conditions must be satisfied to be eligible.
The second announced stream is the Skilled Worker
Overseas Stream.
This targets workers in occupations that Manitoba
considers to be in shortage and who are invited by recruiters strategically
selected by Manitoba while working overseas.
For those selected and proceeding with cases in
this year's PNP, it will be a very valuable period. However, for most people
aiming for Canadian permanent residency, it is a time to 'take a break and
prepare,' understanding and preparing for immigration trends.
Additionally, it should be a period to broadly
check and search for information related to Canadian permanent residency.
